William M. Scherer is a founding partner of Scherer Smith & Kenny LLP, where he counsels a wide variety of clients requiring assistance in business, real estate, licensing and intellectual property, and trusts and estates issues, as well as dispute mediation. Mr. Scherer acts as general corporate counsel to businesses of all sizes and across a range of industries, focusing on one-time transactions such as sales and mergers and acquisitions, as well as ongoing representation, including corporate formalities, commercial transactions, licensing and employment matters, and strategic growth issues. In addition, Mr. Scherer extensively counsels clients in real estate and California common interest development matters, representing nearly three dozen associations within the Bay Area. Mr. Scherer also counsels clients in connection with wills, trusts and general estate planning.

Prior to joining Brandon Smith to form Scherer & Smith, LLP, in 1998, which would later become Scherer Smith & Kenny LLP, Mr. Scherer worked for five years at two San Francisco firms, and then opened his own firm, Law Offices of William M. Scherer, in 1993.

Mr. Scherer is a life-long, 5th generation Bay Area resident, and has lived and practiced exclusively in San Francisco since graduating in 1988 from the University of California at Berkeley’s Boalt Hall School of Law. Prior to law school, Mr. Scherer attended the University of California, Davis, where he graduated in 1984 with honors and a bachelor of arts degree in economics.
